

Jeanette Trujillo Lucero
Artistic Director of Fiesta Colorado Dance Company
Jeanette Trujillo-Lucero is Founder and Artistic Director of Fiesta Colorado Dance Company. Jeanette has owned and directed the Jeanette Trujillo Dance Studio in Denver for over 25 years. She is a teacher and choreographer of ballet, tap and Jazz as well as Mexican Folkloric, Flamenco and Spanish Classical Dance.
A native of Denver, Colorado, Jeanette began her dance training at the tender age of 5. She first began with ballet and went on to study tap, jazz and ballet with Don Crosby, Larry Boyett and Milenko Banovich. She has many years of study in dance at Loretto Heights College in Denver. Lucille Campa was her first teacher of Spanish dance. Other major influences in her Hispanic dance training include, Vicente Romero, María Benitez, Raúl Váldez, Augustín de Razo and Manolo Rivera.
As a performer, Trujillo-Lucero has performed with world renowned Flamenco guitarists, Chuscales, Mullins and Espinoza and dancers such as Mina Fajardo, Gina Martinez, Maria Vazquez, and Juan del Valle. She is heralded as a classical dancer who belongs to the first rank of artists of Spanish dance and is so noted in the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book entitled, Hispanic Culture in the Southwest by Dr. Arthur Campa.
Her artistic collaborations include working with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, Pueblo Symphony International Mariachi Festival, Fiestas de Santa Fe and Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra, among many others.
A highly versatile choreographer, Ms. Trujillo- Lucero has set Mexican Folkloric choreography for the Lakewood Cultural Center, Arvada Center, Up With People, Theatre in the Park and has set Musical Theatre pieces for the Colorado Children’s Chorale, Colorado Opera, Evergreen Chorale and many of the schools in the metro Denver area.
As a dancer, teacher and choreographer, Jeanette has received special recognition for her work in preserving and her expertise in the understanding of the Hispanic dance and music arts. She has received awards from Colorado Council for the Arts Folk Arts Grant, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Hispanic Cultures of the Southwest, Rocky Mountain News Colorado People, State of Colorado Governor’s Recognition Award and the 1997 Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.
The list of educational outreach programs, residencies and summer intensive workshops Ms. Trujillo-Lucero has been affiliated with include Colorado Ballet, David Taylor Dance, Denver Ballet Guild, Colorado Folklife Festival, Colorado Council on the Arts, Denver Public Schools Community Resources, Denver School for the Arts and the DPS Educational Television program and Rocky Mountain News PBS on Hispanic History of the Southwest.
